For some, moving towards a greener data centre means reducing CO2 emissions, but for most of us it means reducing the utility bill. Lets face it, convincing the bean counters that to fund initiatives that will lower operational costs is much easier than getting them excited about reducing the data centre's carbon footprint.

With both energy costs and consumption on the rise, there is an ever-increasing need to manage expenses related to powering IT equipment. To know just how much your IT equipment contributes to your data centre utility bill, use WTI BPM and MPC Series rack mount Power Distribution Units (PDUs) to meter and report total kWh energy consumption.

The MPC Series PDUs are intelligent IP enabled power strips that meters and report kWh, KW, Amps Volts and Temperature via local LED display, SNMP, IP, Serial RS-232, Web Interface or through MIB based software. The MPC Series are vertically or horizontally mounted and provide 8x, 16x or 20x 240VAC 10 Amp IEC output sockets. Both Single and dual input, 16 Amp and 32 Amp input models are available.

The BPM Series data is accessible via RS232, allowing the metered PDUs to be polled and current data collected across your entire network or within your data center. The BPM Series are vertically mounted and provide16x or 24x 240VAC 10 Amp IEC output sockets. Both Single and 3-Phase, 20 Amp and 30 Amp input models are available. A 1RU horizontal unit with 8x 10 Amp outputs is also available.

When using WTI rack mount PDUs, administrators can know kilowatt-hour consumption at each rack and branch circuit. Whether you focus on reducing your carbon footprint or the utility bill, Interworld can help you know just how much energy your IT equipment is consuming.
