Interworld Electronics has released new series PC/104 isolated digital I/O boards from ACCES I/O.

The 104-IDI-48 series 48-channel optically isolated digital input PC/104 boards are ideal for use in control and instrumentation applications.

Individual channel-to-channel isolation allows every channel to be physically and electrically separated from the others.

This is especially useful in applications where high common-mode external voltages or troublesome ground loops are present.

Isolation is required to guard electronics from transient voltage spikes and offers greater common-mode noise rejection in electronically noisy surroundings containing industrial machinery and inductive loads.

Applications include factory automation, energy management, industrial on and off control, security systems, manufacturing test, and process monitoring.

In addition the inputs feature a change-of-state detection capability that provides a means to automatically interrupt the host computer in real time.

Each input is rectified by photo-coupler diodes and is therefore polarity insensitive-either positive or negative and AC voltage inputs are acceptable.

The input range is up to 60 VDC or AC rms at frequencies of 40Hz to 10kHz.

The optically isolated digital inputs are split into two 50-pin IDC type headers each containing 24 channels. Accessories available include a wide variety of ribbon cables and screw terminal boards for quick and easy connectivity.

The 104-IDI-48 series are supported by most operating systems and include a free DOS, Linux and Windows 98/NT/2000/XP/2003 compatible software package.

This package contains sample programs and source code in "C" for DOS, and visual basic, Delphi, C++ Builder, and Visual C++ for Windows.

Linux support includes installation files and basic samples for programming from user level via an open source kernel driver.

Third party support includes a Windows standard DLL interface usable from the popular application programs, and includes example LabVIEW VIs.

Embedded OS support includes Windows XPe and CE.
