THE Avocent SwitchView IP, available from Interworld Electronics , adds economical remote access capability to a server or existing KVM switch.
Using industry standard TCP/IP connectivity, this KVM over IP remote access device provides BIOS level access to a server. The SwitchView IP can easily integrate with a KVM switch to offer convenient IP-based access and control to IT environments.
With the secure browser-based access of SwitchView IP, servers can be controlled anywhere, anytime, and business-critical servers can be remotely booted from any location.
The browser-based access uses 128 bit encryption and industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connectivity to ensure a secure remote connection.
A system log enables tracking of user login and logout, file access, critical events and other activities. Log files can be saved, printed and emailed.
The SwitchView IP simultaneously supports a local console and one remote IP connection. Local console support is provided for a PS/2 keyboard and mouse while the target system can be connected using a PS/2 or USB keyboard and mouse.
The SwitchView supports local monitor VGA resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 @60Hz. A serial output is provided to control a third party Remote Power Reboot device.
With this option a target computer that has hung or blue screened can be remotely power cycled to initiate a restart. The SwitchView IP is also FLASH upgradable. Flash updates are available via the Avocent web site.
The SwitchView IP provides secure control and management of a host system through the web browser interface of a remote client computer. It does not require any host video drivers to be installed.
Configuration complexities are further reduced as, unlike software remote access solutions, the SwitchView IP does not require agents to be installed on each host server.
