INTERWORLD Electronics has expanded its range of global positioning system (GPS) receivers designed to GPS-enable desktop computers, notebook and laptop PCs, PDAs and mobile telephones.

Receivers are now available with Bluetooth, USB, Compact Flash, SDIO and serial interfaces to suit most mobile computing devices. For OEM system designers Interworld can also supply a range of embedded GPS modules. These small PC-board-based modules can be incorporated into the electronic design process to make equipment GPS-aware.

Models based on the SiRF Star II/LP, SIRF/X-Trac and the SiRF Star III chipsets are available. The SiRF Star III chipset incorporates the latest in GPS technology to provide a high-performance, high-sensitivity GPS chipset. GPS receivers using SiRF Star III can achieve a tracking sensitivity of (–159dBm) and a fast time to first fix.

Interworld Electronics has released the BT-338 SiRF Star III GPS receiver with Bluetooth interface and built-in active antenna, the BT-353 SiRF Star III GPS Receiver with USB interface and built-in active antenna, the BT-355 SiRF Star III GPS Receiver with PS/2 serial interface and built-in active antenna, and the SD-501 SiRF Star II (X-Trac) GPS receiver with SDIO interface and built-in active antenna.

It has also released a number of GPS board-level modules including the ET-102 SiRF Star II/LP GPS module with built-in active antenna, the ET-202 SiRF Star II/LP GPS module external antenna required, the ET-301 SiRF Star III GPS module external antenna required, the EM-401 SiRF Star II/LP GPS module with built-in active antenna, the EM-402 SiRF Star II (X-Trac) GPS module with built-in active antenna, and the EM-406 SiRF Star III GPS module with built-in active antenna.
