QUATECH'S popular range of RS-232/422/485 Ethernet serial device servers are now available with RJ45 modular connectors.
Available from Interworld Electronics , the 4 wire and 2 wire twisted pair serial devices can be directly connected to an Ethernet network.
Serial device servers with module connectors are available in 2, 4 and 8 port models.
The ThinQ 100M series provides single protocol RS-232 communication ports while the 400M Series has multi-protocol RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 configurable ports.
Quatech's servers provide native serial ports via an Ethernet-based interface using a number of standard protocols including TCP/IP and HTTP.
Ethernet is the networking option of choice for a range of applications in industrial control, retail and banking. However, most of these applications use RS-232 or RS-422/485 serial equipment that cannot be directly connected to a LAN/WAN.
Serial device servers bridge this gap by providing multiple serial ports that appear as standard COM ports on a PC. They are then connected to an Ethernet network from where they can be remotely monitored and controlled.
In addition, Quatech's serial device servers allow standard serial equipment to be accessed via Ethernet without rewriting any legacy application software.
The servers are powered by 32-bit integrated communication processors with on-board web servers that can be accessed remotely via a standard web browser.
They support many standard network protocols including UDP, TCP/IP, HTTP, DHCP, and ARP over 10BaseT and 100BaseT.
Serial port support including full modem control is provided for Windows 2000/ XP and Linux.
Quatech's serial device servers are packaged for rugged industrial environments. For even more protection, a surge suppression option is available.
