AVAILABLE from Interworld Electronics is Quatech’s PXB-32IOD, which provides 32 high-density isolated digital input channels and 32 high-density PCI isolated digital output channels.
Features include high output driving capability, up to 24V voltage protection for isolated input and internal interrupt signal on digital input channels.
The 5000V dc isolation on the board protects the computer against potential damage from accidental contact with high external voltage and eliminates troublesome ground loops.
The PXB-32IOD/PCI functions as a 32-bit target (slave) device to any master on the PCI bus. It requires eight consecutive addresses (32-bit) in the PC I/O address space.
No jumper or DIP switch setting are required for configuration, which is completely handled by the system BIOS. Each bit of the base address corresponds to a signal on one of the 32 digital input or 32 digital output channels.
The isolated digital inputs have an open collector transistor structure. The input voltage ranges from 0V to 24V with a 2.4kW input resistor. The digital inputs’ common junction can be configured as either common ground or common power, therefore the digital input can be either current source or current sink.
The board’s 32 digital outputs can only be configured as common ground with output sink current up to 500mA.
The PXB-32IOD/PCI is supported under Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000. Quatech’s DaqSuite CD is included free with the board, which supplies drivers for LabVIEW, DASYLab and TestPoint.
For implementing fully integrated data acquisition systems, Quatech’s DaqEZ and DaqEZ Pro application software packages are included on the CD as well. Interworld Electronics 03 9563 5011.
