Organisers of Smart 2007 have announced the launch of The Smart Awards, which will celebrate exceptional corporate and individual performance in key supply chain and logistics industry sectors.
Six awards will be presented at the Smart Supply Chain Industry Dinner, Thursday, 21 June 2007, in Sydney. The major award which is traditionally announced at the dinner, recognising Individual Outstanding Contribution to Supply Chain Management, will remain the pre-eminent honour.
Five additional awards, sponsored by peak industry organisations, will have a high level of prestige and industry recognition, and will be open to any Australian company meeting the entry criteria. These awards will be given for excellence in Transport and Logistics (CILTA); Supply Chain Management and Distribution (LAA); Manufacturing Supply Chains (APICS); Procurement (CIPSA) and Cold Chain (RWTA).
The Smart Awards criteria and rigorous judging processes will be managed by a committee comprising each of the industry organisations involved, and will be chaired by Len Harper, Director, CILTA.
As Smart only takes place once every two years, these Awards will carry a special prestige and aspirational value for participating companies.
CILTA will be encouraging involvement industry-wide, and over the next few months will be developing this Awards program to ensure winners receive tangible benefits and recognition for their efforts.
Nominations will open in January 2007.
Smart 2007 will take place 20-21 June 2007 at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour. The conference is organised by: Logistics Association of Australia Ltd (LAA), Australasian Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Australia (CIPSA), The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Australia (CILTA) and Refrigerated Warehouse and Transport Association of Australia (RWTA).
