With the intent to make solar power a cleaner, more cost-effective alternative for commercial and government customers, SunEdison LLC sought to develop more innovative and affordable ways to mount rooftop panels that would help to lower the cost of solar power.
SolidWorks Premium design and analysis and SolidWorks Flow Simulation software were selected by SunEdison to develop its Delta Rack rooftop solar panel rack-mounting system for several reasons.
In addition to ease of use, the design and simulation software supports an iterative approach, provides eDrawings design communications capabilities, and includes integrated structural and fluid dynamics analysis software as well as sheet metal design capabilities.
The SolidWorks implementation helped SunEdison derive several advantages including significant reductions in system cost and development time, helping the company to develop better products.
