NTE-SENER has chosen InterCAD ’s SolidWorks 3D Design Software to develop the Muscle Atrophy Research and Exercise System (MARES System) for the astronauts on the International Space Station. The MARES System helps the astronauts offset the deliberating effects of zero gravity on muscle mass during their time on the International Space Station.
The MARES System was designed to help astronauts exercise while on board the International Space Station. It also produced information for researchers to study the negative impacts of zero gravity on human muscles and the effectiveness of the counter measures taken on board.
NTE-SENER had faced significant engineering and communication challenges in developing their sophisticated MARES system. SolidWorks 3D Design Solutions helped overcome these obstacles with its easy to use platform and ability to import 3D models from existing space station designs, as well as included 3D design and visualisation tools.
In using InterCad’s SolidWorks 3D, NTE-SENER were able to shorten its development cycle by 25-30%, automated design through the use of configurations, reduced the number of design errors and supported a modular approach to design for ease of assembly.
