Novartis Pharmaceuticals use Innovit’s iICE MDM solutions to obtain NPC compliance

Supplier News

National Product Catalogue (NPC) has been endorsed by all Australian State, Territory and Federal Health Departments as the ‘source of item master data’ for public health institutions. This data will form the basis for the on-going e-procurement processes. NSW Health is the largest state health jurisdiction and about to become the first to source data directly from the NPC. Suppliers to NSW Health (and the other jurisdictions) are being strongly encouraged to become NPC compliant in the near future.

Novartis Pharmaceuticals are providers of pharmaceutical products globally. As the Australian Healthcare industry moves towards mandating the use of NPC data as part of their contract requirements, Novartis has chosen to become NPC compliant immediately.

Robyn Wix, Operations Manager for Novartis understood the effort that would be involved in such a project. Not only was their vision to support NPC, they also recognised the opportunity to improve their internal workflow procedures that supports the current management of their product master data. In turn, having the right access to different personnel across the entire business (medical and non-medical) would benefit the entire organisation.

Innovit, providers of Master Data Management (MDM) solutions, also provide certified solutions for the NPC. Innovit’s iICE MDM (Express Edition) was the solution of choice for Novartis, it was flexible and scalable to suit their short and long term business objectives for their NPC data management. iICE enabled Novartis to centralise the management of their product master data and allowed users to validate their data locally prior to loading to NPC.

Innovit provided Novartis with a complete package of software and services to support NPC. Their project management expertise ensured that the project was delivered within budget and within six weeks from beginning to end. Throughout the project, Novartis was able to access the support network of GS1 Australia and link this with the implementation expertise from Innovit.

Novartis is now able to extend their iICE solution for NPC with approval workflow to streamline the processes currently in use within Novartis for the management of the product catalogue.
