Innovia Films has expanded its range of biodegradable and compostable label facestock films for pressure sensitive applications.
The new development NatureFlex NVLW is a white cellulose film based on renewable and sustainable wood-pulp sourced from FSC-certified suppliers.
The film has been certified under the European standard EN13432 and can be disposed of in both home and industrial composting environments.
Dr Michael Taylor, business development manager, says: “We are delighted to be able to introduce NVLW which complements the clear NatureFlex NVL which is enjoying marked success in the marketplace since its introduction.
“Designed for pressure-sensitive labelling applications, NatureFlex NVLW offers high opacity and gloss, printability for aesthetics and its dimensional stability over a wide range of temperatures ensures efficient conversion.
In fact, NVLW’s high opacity enables the elimination of heavy white ink layers and thus widens the scope of the label design”
The new film is suitable for use in applications where the complete package construction needs to be certified as biodegradable such as fruit labelling, sandwich packs, beverage bottles, flow pack packaging and cosmetic labelling.
The coatings applied to both sides of NatureFlex NVLW are fully biodegradable and they provide adhesive anchorage and wide-ranging print receptivity.
The film is stiffer and more oriented than many biopolymers currently on the market, making it suitable for labelling.
