Compostable cellulose-based material, NatureFlex NVR from Innovia Films
has been chosen by Lebensbaum to pack its range of organic teas.
Lebensbaum, a German company is a pioneer in the production of organic tea, coffee and herbs. The company’s success has been built on a combination of pure tasting ingredients, ecological foresight and social responsibility.
Lebensbaum’s focus on sustainability led them to introduce packaging materials based on renewable resources. Commenting on the company’s selection of the compostable film from Innovia, Managing Director Dr Achim Mayr explains that NatureFlex combines the packaging quality and functionality that they sought within their green mission.
NatureFlex film is made from wood sourced from managed plantations operating on good forestry principles, FSC or equivalent, with the compostable film breaking down in a home compost bin (or industrial compost environment) within a matter of weeks.
Key advantages offered by NatureFlex compostable film in packaging applications include inherent dead fold and anti-static properties, high gloss and transparency, resistance to grease and oil, good barrier to gases, aromas and mineral oils and a wide heat-seal range.
Joachim Janz, Sales Account Manager, Innovia Films, NatureFlex offers new innovative packaging solutions, especially for the tea and coffee industry with the compostable film delivering on key aspects such as product safety and sustainability.
NatureFlex films offer a suitable aroma barrier as well as a functional barrier to mineral oil migration, which has been scientifically confirmed to last for five years. Mineral oil barrier is especially welcome for tea products, which has proven weaknesses concerning mineral oil protection.
NatureFlex NVR is a two-side coated heat sealable, renewable and certified compostable film with an intermediate moisture barrier, ideally suited for box overwrap and individual flow wrap applications.
