Infor, a large global provider of enterprise software, has been awarded Application Vendor of the Year 2006, at Woolworths Limited’s second annual IT Supplier of the Year Awards.
The award recognised Infor’s outstanding contribution to Woolworths’ three-year, multi-million dollar, national distribution network project in Australia. The landmark project is underpinned by Infor SCM Warehouse Management 2000, a high-volume supply chain management solution. On completion next year, it will represent a large and complex retail distribution network in the southern hemisphere.
According to Infor, Woolworths is a world-leader in supply chain initiatives. This award is positive proof that Infor’s business-specific solutions are highly reliable in the complex environment of large scale retailing, and this highlights its position as the leader in high volume retail distribution solutions.
According to Woolworths, Infor is a deserving winner of this award. Not only has Infor provided superior and robust technology solutions to Woolworths’ business challenges, and continuously enriched these solutions with new and innovative extensions, but it has consistently provided a team of knowledgeable, experienced, enthusiastic and flexible people who have gone the extra mile to make this enormous project a success. Combined, this has contributed extraordinary value to Woolworths’ business.
The Infor Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementation has completed rollout at Woolworths’ distribution centres in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and regional New South Wales. As a result of these go-lives, Woolworths has increased its supply chain capabilities and, in turn, it’s competitive advantage.
Also underway is an Infor WMS implementation at Woolworths’ new Brisbane DC. On completion, the Brisbane DC will have triple the throughput of Woolworths’ previous large DC, and provide the ability to handle mixed products, such as fresh, chilled and frozen goods in the same location.
The Infor Professional Services team has been closely involved in the project since inception, working in partnership with Woolworths during the development phase, managing the first stages of implementation to ensure delivery on time and on budget, and executing the customisations required to handle the unique complexities of the Woolworths’ environment.
Infor WMS is a high-volume supply chain management solution that includes RF (radio frequency) receiving, RF loading, flow-through, cross docking, labour management and integrated voice picking; all of which are key requirements for Woolworths in maximising return while maintaining its goal of lowest total cost of ownership. In particular, the cross docking capabilities at the new Brisbane DC are viewed by Woolworths as a critical market advantage.
