SSA Global , a leading global provider of extended enterprise solutions and services, has announced that ABB, a world leader in power and automation technologies, will implement a worldwide agreement with SSA Global.
Under the contract that was finalised in April 2005 and valued at US$3.5 million, ABB will increase the number of its employees using SSA Global solutions by nearly 25% to more than 5,500.
SSA Global is currently supporting ABB at its operations in 16 countries on three continents.
SSA Global solutions are of particular importance to ABB's high voltage and transformers business units within ABB's power technologies division.
"For our business unit, SSA Global is a strategic partner to ABB,” said Group Vice President Information Technology BU Transformers, Tarek ElHadidi. “Their software helps us achieve our competitive position.”
“From SSA Global we see great executive commitment, which makes them easier to do business with. The program to implement SSA Erpln is just the latest example of how SSA Global is working with us to improve our global competitiveness."
SSA Global is supporting the business unit's after-sales service initiative by delivering the functionality to reduce spare parts inventory, track and manage the ABB installed base, schedule and plan spare parts and field management and enhance project management capabilities.
The business unit will host SSA Erpln on an IBM eServer pSeries. ABB has outsourced its IT infrastructure to IBM as part of a 10-year strategic agreement.
"The combination of SSA Erpln and the IBM pSeries servers illustrates the flexibility of the SSA ERP platform and the strength of our relationships with ABB and IBM," said president, Global Accounts, SSA Global, Rick Gonzales. "The ABB agreement is further evidence of SSA Global's position as a leading enterprise software provider for both large and mid-market manufacturers."
