SSA Global Technologies has announced a unique, role-based portal solution that is designed to change how individual users view and leverage company-wide information, resulting in greater efficiencies and positive impact to the bottom line.
The announcement reinforces SSA GT's corporate strategy to extend the information technology investment of its customers worldwide by acquiring or developing solutions that add incremental business value fast.
SSA GT executive vice president Graeme Cooksley said portals were becoming a strategic weapon in business today.
“According to our 2002 SSA GT global client survey, 75 per cent of our customers will have several software applications in place throughout their organisation by early 2003.
“This presents a challenge for users who are required to make decisions using information from multiple systems," he said.
"To address this problem, SSA GT has developed a unique, role-based portal solution that integrates data from our own product suite and other software applications into a single, seamless view of enterprise information."
SSA GT will deliver the first in a series of these portals, Order Inquiry, in February 2003. The Order Inquiry portal addresses the entire order experience by quickly and efficiently responding to customer requests and inquiries in relation to the status of orders.
Touching all functional areas within an organisation, future versions of the portal will include the following:
* Customer service representative.
* Sales representative.
* Material planner.
* Transportation planner
* Department manager.
SSA GT has developed an innovative integration architecture that runs on a Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application server and provides common integration for portal applications to legacy applications.
The infrastructure also enables integration to SSA GT extension products, other software solutions and to future SSA GT product acquisitions.
