RECOIL LED Technology creates a brilliant collimated beam by shining a 1-watt Luxeon LED backwards at a parabolic mirror to harness 100% of the generated light.
This avoids the annoying dark spots and irregular and scattered beam patterns provided by conventional lamps where much of the light is transmitted at broad angles without being bounced off the reflector.
A scattered beam particularly limits luminating capabilities in dust, smoke, rain or fog, where scattered light is reflected off particles creating a halo effect which reduces the visibility distance available under clear conditions.
ABS plastic construction and polycarbonate lens ensure this headlamp, submersible to 75 metres, will stand up to just about any extreme environment.
The 2680 headlamp, available from Montville Creative Products , is tested at 33 lumens and the 50mm diameter LED module uses an LED with a life of 10,000 hours. Four AA batteries, and both rubber and cloth headbands, are included.
