Industrial Laser Services has announced the release of SilversCNC control systems running under Windows XP. Existing DOS systems (regardless of the machine it is on) can be upgraded to this new Windows platform.
The popular feature of all SilversCNC controls (ie simplicity of operation) is retained, and further enhanced by the useful operating features of the windows platform:
Network connection - the programmer can send programs direct to the machine; alternatively the operator can drag and drop the program from any available location on the network.
Elimination of program load delay - the Windows version allows immediate cycle start of the program once it is identified (ie activated). Program load time to the machine memory is at network speed (effectively instantaneous).
Display all needed information on the screen.
Multi tasking - the operator can edit or review other programs while in-cycle on another program. This effectively makes redundant the computer often located beside each machine.
Easier training of operators - new operators are likely to be conversant with Windows operation before starting, making specific training shorter and faster.
Touch screen (depending on the specific upgrade) for operator convenience.
Upgradeable - new features are planned for the future that will be available to relevant users as software upgrades.
