Logistics and materials handling specialist, ICA has formed an association with Joloda (UK) to make available in Australia and New Zealand, a unique One Shot Container Stuffing System.
The portable and reusable stuffing system allows one employee to load and unload long, heavy and wide loads of up to 28 tons, from unmodified 20’ and 40’ standard ISO, end-loading containers in one shot anywhere.
ICA’s One Shot Container Stuffing System comprises the Joloda container jacking system, skate and track (skates running in captive track down a sloped plinth into the container) and loading plinth.
The stuffing system quickly assembles in several easy steps: The container jacks lower the container from the trailer and create a loading angle matching that of the plinth; the portable steel track is clipped together and laid parallel on the plinth and container floor; and the skates with a 28 ton capacity are positioned on the tracks, ready for engagement, under the load.
The load is assembled on 80mm wooden bearers to form the minimum clearance required by the low profile skate and track system. The skates lift the load 25mm via a hand hydraulic pump and the load rolls down the captive track into the container.
Once the load is stowed, the skates are manually lowered; the skate and track system pulled out, and the container jacks are powered up allowing the container to be locked onto the trailer. The container jacks are unclipped and the trailer departs, and is ready to ship. At the destination, the system can be reversed and the container stripped.
The One Shot Container Stuffing System enables long, wide and heavy loads to be one-shot, loaded with only 25mm of clearance from sidewalls, maximising container usage with no load damage and a rapid turn around time of usually 30 minutes.
The One Shot Container Stuffing System’s manual breaking system incorporated in the hydraulic skate lift mechanism allows continuous operator control and heightened safety with instant braking.
