Industrial Conveying Australia (ICA) has been Highly Commended in the Innovative Australian Product of the Year section of the Manufacturers' Monthly Endeavour Awards 2005.
The all-Australian company, based in Bendigo Victoria, is a world leading developer and manufacturer of materials handling systems and solutions and exports about 40% of its products.
ICA managing director Don Erskine said the company had long been one of Australia's quiet achievers paving the way for Australian manufacturers by not only developing innovative products domestically, but had also perpetually grown its personnel base as a result of its ongoing success.
"Our container loading/unloading system is like most of our developments - a unique entrant into the materials handling and transport markets that fills a huge need that had long been ignored," Mr Erskine said.
"We are proud that Manufacturers' Monthly and Reed Business Information has given this product a High Commendation for Innovation.
"It is proof of our dedication to industry and reinforces our belief that Australian manufacturers, armed with a little market research, are perfectly capable of manufacturing unique products that can be exported to the world.
"The container loading/unloading system fills a niche market that had no solutions to a specific need and ICA was there to fill the void."
ICA's container loading/unloading system comprises four heavy duty jacks that are more convenient than using specially fitted forklifts, cranes and gantries.
These hydraulic/electric items are also used to load and unload pallets and skids of all sizes and adhere to all necessary Australian Standards and occupational health and safety requirements.
In most circumstances, these four can load and unload containers to and from trailers more conveniently than forklifts with special container-handling tynes.
