Elsteel have worked together with IPD Industrial Products to provide the Australian Switchboard Building industry with highly tested systems.
Internal Arcing-Fault Containment and Degree of Protection testing have been utilised to test different switchboard arrangements. All tests have been conducted in Australia. The details of the tests performed are:
- Internal Arcing-Fault Containment test on three sizes of fixed type compartments
- Internal Arcing-Fault Containment test on three sizes of demountable type compartments
- Internal Arcing-Fault Containment test on three sizes of fully withdrawable type compartments
- Internal Arcing-Fault Containment test in accordance with IEC1641 on a TECHNO switchboard in the busbar chamber at a prospective fault level of 63kA for 110ms
The first three tests were conducted on cell sizes of 600W x 200H x 400D, 600W x 400H x 400D and 600W x 600H x 600D in accordance with AS/NZS 3439.1.2002 Annex ZD, standard test at a prospective fault level of 63kA.
The Degree of Protection test on an Elsteel TECHNO board of the dimension 1600H x 1000W x 600D, complete with equipped compartments and busbars, was conducted at Test Safe in Sydney. A rating of IP55 was achieved. An Internal Form of Separation test was also conducted to IP20. These tests were conducted in accordance with AS 60529-2004. The TECHNO system passed all the tests.
The key objective was to pass the tests using stock standard TECHNO parts that would enable IPD Industrial Products to provide the market with permanently tested products off-the-shelf.
IPD Industrial Products will continue to invest in the development and testing of TECHNO systems to maintain their position as quality manufacturers of modular switchboard systems.
