The new generation of the EHP-TL press brakes, from IMTS Laser Specialists do not just look firmer, there are lots of significant improvements. The AC servo motors for the driving of the back gauges are also applied. Hydraulic is used for the crowning.
Faster, user friendly, more accurate and safer. These are the improvements of the new Darley EHPTL press brake. Also the design has been tightened. These changes make the machine more modern. The table is made longer to tighten the design of the machine. The additional support beam on the bottom is absolute, making the machine more accessible to the operator. The hight of the table increase from 900 mm to 950 mm. because nowadays people are getting longer.
Faster and less maintainance
The most important changes are the operation of the crowning and the driving of the back gauges. Darley applies new AC servo motors instead of DC motors in the previous generation. The engineering department did a very good job in development, engineering and testing. Customers
require more and more technically advanced machines. The need for customer specific machines showed a sharp increase. According to the engineering department, Darley can achieve competitive prices for customized solutions.
By using the new AC servo motors for the back gauges, the speed is increased to 1000 mm per second for the x-axes. Also the need for maintenance is improved. The AC servo motors have no wear parts, carbon brushes for example. These brushes are less susceptible to malfunctions and
maintenance. If there is still an engine failure, then they only need to change the AC servo motor and copy the parameters from the previous. The installation and tuning is not necessary anymore. After changing the motors, the machine is rapidly employable. The price from the AC servo motor is now almost the same as a DC servo motor. Besides, the transformer can be left out in the electrical cabinet.
New drive for hydraulic crowning
The introduction of a new hydraulic drive for the crowning, the speed is significantly higher. Hydraulic is faster then an electrical motor because the hydraulic control is much stronger. The engineering department also changes the oil tank. The additional cover on the backside of the machine is not used anymore. This avoids additional noise and resonance. The heat is now better guided, as the thermal stability benefits. In countries, like Italy or Spain, the installation of an oil cooler is not always necessary. In some cases this can be prevented.
Safety light screen on the back of the machine
The customer can choose a standard fencing or a light screen that covers the back side of the machine. Especially as many fingers should be changed, a light screen provides faster access to the back of the machines. The last improvement is a new type of bending support. Darley now uses an electrical motor which is not only stronger but also faster to mount. Especially when a customer needs bending supports, Darley can install this much faster than a hydraulic bending support.
