3D modelling technology at Track Trailer">IMAGINiT Technologies have provided Track Trailer with Autodesk Inventor, a package that provides the foundation for digital prototyping, to transform Track Trailer’s design and build process.
IMAGINiT Technologies have also provided Track Trailer with training and ongoing support.
With the Autodesk Inventor, Track Trailer can check clearances and access points and work out the build from the assembly point of view as a part of the design process.The installation of 3D modelling technology minimised the errors and increased the build time. Only two prototypes of the new 4m caravan were built due to the digital prototyping capabilities of the Autodesk Inventor.
The accuracy and consistency of the sheet metal improved as design information could be sent directly to the sheet metal fabricators with less manual drafting. As parts and processes were simplified, labour efficiency also improved with few workers required for assembly.
Track Trailer observe that the ability to send dxf files to the sheet metal fabricators has resulted in low wastage of material as parts are efficiently nested and designed to make the most of the sheet.
According to Track Trailer, the customer support line and the support network were helpful in regards to the FEA aspect of Inventor as limited FEA work was done previously.
