ENSIS Papro has added the OpTest Paper PerFect Formation Analyser to their suite of laboratory testing equipment, purchased from local supplier IDM Instruments .

Ensis Papro, one of the business units within the unincorporated joint venture between CSIRO, Forestry and Forest Products and Scion (formerly Forest Research Institute, New Zealand), provides a wide range of research and development services for standard and specialised testing to companies within the pulp, paper and packaging industries.

Ensis Papro’s scientific expertise allows the organisation to deliver practical solutions to the challenges faced by many companies. The Paper PerFect Formation Analyser (PPF) can be used to control the sheet uniformity of paper and board. The uniqueness of the PPF is the breakdown of formation into 10 scales, corresponding to fibre ‘floc’ sizes ranging from 0.4mm to 55mm.

Other features include precise optics and illumination, CCD camera with high resolution, auto calibration, MD and CD proofing capabilities, rapid measurements as well as operation over a wide grammage range.

The PPF can ultimately help improve paper formation property with commensurate benefits to print quality, sheet strength, sheet opacity and press room performance.
