IDM Instruments have manufactured their newly designed high speed mixer for a multi-national polyurethane producer. The instrument has been designed for the rapid mixing of foam compounds to produce a well-mixed sample pat, which can be poured to form a sample for testing purposes and quality control.
The high speed mixer is made from stainless steel for corrosion protection and for ease of cleaning. The mixing shaft is driven by servo motor to enable automated mixing, as well as variable mixing speeds for added ease of use. It also allows the instrument to maintain constant torque, and to produce high RPM.
The high speed mixer operates to enable three mixing times and three different testing speeds to produce the sample pat. Values are entered onto the PLC for control. Once values are set, operation of the test is initiated through the hand controller, enabling the sample pat to be produced, with the set required curing times.
Pneumatic cylinders are used to clamp the cup in position for mixing. A two hand control pendant is used to operate the machine, and digital timers are used to measure product curing times.
