IDM Instruments have produced a Mattress Rollator for an American Mattress Manufacturer. The Mattress Rollator has been designed and manufactured with relevance to testing and evaluating of Innersprings and Boxsprings as specified in ASTM F 1566.
There are several different methods used for the evaluation of innersprings and boxsprings testing for measurements regarding firmness, firmness retention, durability, and effect of impact.
The Rollator is used to determine the durability of any type of mattress and boxspring unit, regardless of the materials of construction, by simulating long-term use conditions.
The Rollator consists of a weighted roller which moves width ways across a test mattress to simulate body movement. The length of stroke to which the Roller moves is adjustable via the eccentric, to suit the relevant mattress under test. A steel carrier frame supports the mattress and base under test while a safety cage stops any accidental placement of foreign objects like hands in harmful positions.
Upon completion of 100,000 cycles, the mattress can be evaluated to analyse the effect of the 109kg roller that has simulated ten years of human movement.
