IDM Instruments has manufactured its first large ball impact tester for a local laminates manufacturer.
Manufactured with relevance to ISO 4586-2 standard, the large ball impact tester is used to measure the resistance of impact on surfaces using a large diameter ball.
This is defined as the maximum height for which no visible surface cracking, or imprint greater than the specified diameter of the ball, occurs over predetermined strikes.
The instrument is manufactured using aluminium housing, and solid steel base plates, with the test initiated via a foot switch.
The instrument also employs an electromagnet, which can be adjusted vertically to allow any drop heights to suit the materials under test.
