IDM Instruments have recently manufactured their hydrostatic head tester which has been specially designed and manufactured with relevance to international standards.
The hydrostatic head tester is used to determine the resistance of penetration by water to textile fabrics, at a constant rate of increase of pressure.
The hydrostatic head tester can be used on fabrics that are water-repellent or coated to impart resistance to water penetration.
The hydrostatic pressure supported by a fabric is a measure of the resistance to the passage of water through the fabric. A test specimen is subjected to a equivalently increasing water pressure to one face until penetration occurs in three different places. The hydrostatic pressure when the water penetrates the fabric at the third place is noted.
The test instrumentation is manufactured from stainless steel for protection against corrosion as well as high and low pressure gauges. The test head container can be used with or without adaptor rings, to suit the different standards of test.
