SUITABLE for dancer position feedback in web-tension applications, Celesco's IT9420 inclinometer, available from IDM Instruments , is easy to install and use.
Unlike standard linear or rotational sensors that must be connected to both the dancer arm and a reference surface in order to make a measurement, the IT9420 is referenced to gravity, so its measurements are taken as the dancer arm rotates, making it reliable, consistent and cost-efficient.
The inclinometer’s cast-aluminium, IP67 enclosure enables it to stand up to harsh environmental conditions, such as the hot tar and pebbles that are prevalent in the manufacture of roll-form roofing materials.
Compact and durable, the IT9420 provides a 4-20mA feedback signal for incline positions over a 45º to 270º angle measurement range, and features at its core a magnetically dampened pendulum coupled with a precision potentiometer for consistently accurate position measurements.
Although initially employed in the roofing industry’s continuous-web process, the IT9420 is also suitable for other industries, including food-processing and paper-product manufacturing, that feature a continuous-feed, dancer-type application, and where it is critical to maintain consistent tension throughout the manufacturing line.
The Celesco IT9420 comes standard with an aluminium, NEMA 6/IP67 enclosure. A stainless steel, NEMA 4X/IP68 enclosure is optional.
