IDM Instruments has added a new feature to its coefficient of friction tester (COF). The machine now has a clamping method for attaching samples onto the moving plane.
The COF tester is used in the packaging industry to determine the static and kinetic friction of plastic film, sheeting, paper and other sheeted material. It operates via a moving plane with a stationary sled.
In the past, samples have been attached to the plane with double-sided tape. Samples now rest under a sample clamp, making setup to be quick and precise.
The clamp is permanently fixed onto the moving plane, making it sturdy, with samples positioned in the same area for each test. Samples are easily placed under the clamp in seconds, ready to be tested.
