The Cobb Moisture Absorption test is used worldwide for determining the quantity of water absorbed by nonbibulous paper, paperboard and corrugated fibreboard. IDM Instruments manufacture the Cobb Moisture Absorption Test Ring and Roller.
The Cobb Moisture Absorption Test Ring has been designed to allow one side of the test specimen to be uniformly wetted the moment when the soaking begins. It also allows the rapid removal of the water from the surface of the test specimen once the test period has been completed.
IDM Instruments have recently manufactured their Cobb Moisture Absorption Test Ring having 50mm diameter, which has been designed to fit onto print proofs or labels where 100cm2 is large to be used for this test.
The Test Ring is made up of a metal ring with a 50mm ± 0.1 inside diameter, a wall height of 40mm and a wall thickness of approximately 6mm. The Test Ring is mounted within a frame where it can easily be clamped upon a rubber bed surface of the base plate. All metal parts are constructed of stainless steel.
The Cobb Moisture Absorption Test Roller has been designed to accompany the Test Ring and is also constructed of stainless steel, with a smooth rolling face weighing 10.0 ± 0.5kg.
