ICP Electronics Australia has announced the release of the ACT-457A: an all-in-one access controller and proximity reader with Microsoft Windows CE5.0 pre-installed, enabling it to be easily set-up and programmed without an additional on-site computer.  Features of the access controller include:

  • The ACT-457A features a large 5.7" color touch display with a resolution of 640x480, increasing ease of data input and overall readability
  • Built-in 2W speakers
  • This access controller offers bi-directional microphone
  • 300K pixel webcam with low-light capabilities for real-time image capture and facial identification
  • works with EM or Mifare cards and tags, making it ideal for access control systems in residential homes, and also for light commercial and small industrial applications
  • The RMI Alchemy chip with integrated Media Acceleration Engine allows playback of DVD quality video at full-frame rates with low power consumption. Media including MPEG1/2/4, DivX, and WMV9 are all supported, and playback at full D1 resolution requires neither a DSP nor specialised coding.
  • The terminal casing of the access controller is made from durable plastic with an IP64 compliant front panel
  • With its anti-shock / anti-vibration shields and extended temperature range (-10°C ~ 55°C), the ACT-457A access controller is resistant to vandalism and difficult environmental conditions
Applications of the ACT-457A  access controllers include:
  • Cashless payment systems in vending machines
  • Club membership management systems
  • RFID automated parking control systems
