ICP Electronics Australia has announced the latest addition to its range of AGP graphics single board computers, the PIAGP Series. The SAGP-648E supports both Intel Pentium 4 and Celeron CPUs, as well as Hyper-Threading technology.
Its FSB frequency reaches a maximum of 533MHz and adopts the SiS963/648 chipset to provide lower costs, greater flexibility and higher performance.
This SBC also supports AGP 8X providing a data transmission rate of up to 2.1GB/s and is compatible with various high-speed AGP display cards.
The SAGP-648E features the latest dual channel Serial-ATA, which is able to reach a data transmission rate of 150MB/s.
In addition, the Serial ATA supports hot-swap, is simple to connect and offers excellent system ventilation and cooling. These attributes make this SBC suitable for systems integrators.
The SAGP-648E supports four USB 2.0 and two IEEE-1394 ports for simple connection to high-speed peripherals and multimedia devices such as digital cameras.
The AGP 8X display card and high-performance Hyper-Threading CPU are able to process the multimedia, as well as manage the high transmission rate of data storage from the Serial-ATA.
The SAGP-648E can operate with more than 20 different backplanes (PCIAGP/PXAGP), as the mounting holes are common in most of ICP's chassis.
For those who have adopted a long-term industrial computer solution, a direct upgrade from the tradiional PICMG CPU card to the PIAGP solution with AGP bus is possible. This can be carried out without changing the chassis, thus lowering the changeover costs.
