ICP Electronics Australia has released the NANO series of computer boards in the embedded platform for industrial computing (EPIC) form factor, designed for high-performance applications requiring all-in-one functions with limited chassis space.
EPIC is the new open standard form factor for embedded computer boards. The design is larger than a PC/104 module and smaller than an EBX form factor. The embedded single-board computers use the Intel, the ultra low voltage Celeron 400MHz, Socket 479 Pentium M and onboard ULV Celeron M 600MHz CPUs. These processors allow the NANO series to provide value for thermally sensitive and space constrained embedded computing applications by combining the optimal balance of cost, performance and low power.
The NANO series has four to six USB 2.0 connectors, one PC/104 expansion connector and an onboard 10/100Mbps Ethernet controller (Gigabit Ethernet optional). The series supports one SODIMM socket and one CompactFlash socket. They support one IDE, one parallel, one PS/2 keyboard/mouse, three RS-232, one RS-232/42/485 and one IrDA port. Onboard VGA is integrated into the chipset (Intel 852gME + ICH4 or VIA VT8606 + VT82C686B). The NANO series has complex I/O functions suitable for applications such as data acquisition, video processing, telecommunications, networking and motion control.
