ACT-457A Terminal
ACT-457A Terminal

ICP Electronics Australia  has announced the release of the ACT-457A: an all-in-one access controller and proximity reader with Microsoft Windows CE5.0 pre-installed, enabling it to be easily set-up and programmed without an additional on-site computer.

The ACT-457A boasts a large 5.7" color touch display with a resolution of 640x480, increasing ease of data input and overall readability. Other features include built-in 2W speakers, bi-directional microphone and 300K pixel webcam with low-light capabilities for real-time image capture and facial identification.

The RISC-based EM / Mifare Access Control ACT-457A Terminal, with built-in RFID reader, works with EM or Mifare cards and tags, making it ideal for access control systems in residential homes, and also for light commercial and small industrial applications.

The RMI Alchemy chip with integrated Media Acceleration Engine allows playback of DVD quality video at full-frame rates with low power consumption. Media including MPEG1/2/4, DivX, and WMV9 are all supported, and playback at full D1 resolution requires neither a DSP nor specialised coding.

The terminal casing is made from durable plastic with an IP64 compliant front panel. With its anti-shock / anti-vibration shields and extended temperature range (-10°C ~ 55°C), the ACT-457A is resistant to vandalism and difficult environmental conditions.

Other applications include cashless payment systems in vending machines, club membership management systems, and RFID automated parking control systems.
