IBM Global Services now provides Parcelhouse - a global information solutions company for transport, logistics and fulfilment processes - with hosted technology infrastructure on a pay-per-use basis.
According to IBM, the solution has enabled Parcelhouse to achieve a three-fold expansion in the number of users of its Integrated Information Gateway (IIG) service, while maintaining a flat cost structure. The system provides Parcelhouse customers with a real-time information platform that allows them to view and manage logistics information worldwide.
As an internationally growing business Parcelhouse needed to gain market confidence for its 24x7 logistics information management solution. Jason Juretic, Parcelhouse’s general manager, said the ability to avoid major capital investment had a significant positive impact on the company’s cash flow.
Since signing the partnership with IBM in May 2003, Parcelhouse has achieved 99.97% uptime. Recovery time has improved from 40 minutes under the previous disaster recovery system, to a zero minute recovery time.
IBM has a three year contract to develop and support Parcelhouse's high availability IT infrastructure. The solution comprises two IBM eSeries x345 servers and an IBM FAStT600 Storage Server to store the data from a Microsoft SQL database.
