Model 20-20660 Infratest digital penetrometers offer simple automated operation. A standard needle penetrates the sample under controlled ambient conditions of load, time and temperature. The penetration depth of the needle is determined with an electronic measuring system, which is separated from the plunger during the test. The precision movement of the plunger when including applied load and friction is virtually eliminated resulting in repetitive accurate data.
The measuring system is automatically referenced prior to each test cycle. An electric drive operated by a finely adjustable joystick moves the penetration needle up to the sample. Once the plunger is verified by an automatic device, it is blocked again after the testing period. The plunger can easily be removed to calibrate its weight. The test result is displayed on the digital display of the digital penetrometers.
