GERMAN manufacturer of extensometers, Ettemeyer, has introduced a new extensometer for contact-free measurement of specimen multi-axis deformation under quasi-static load application.
Available from Hylec Controls , the unit uses speckle laser interferometry to provide a high-resolution, universal extensometer for tensile, compression and cyclic tests on all materials with an appropriate surface finish.
It is suitable for precise measurements in temperature chambers for the determination of the Young's modulus of elasticity.
Specimen marking is no longer required, as is the case for conventional non-contact systems, which eliminates associated measurement uncertainties and work steps.
The system supplies precise test results down to 0.1 micron over a measuring range from 10mm to 500mm with sampling rate up to 250Hz.
