Self cleaning wear plate for wastewater pumps

Hydro Innovations , new Australian distributor for USA pump manufacturer Gorman Rupp, has introduced a new self cleaning wear plate design by Gorman Rupp which will reduce blockages in waste water pumps, normally caused by stringy or rag type materials.

The self cleaning wear plate is available in Gorman Rupp’s Super T series pumps and new high performance, high pressure Ultra V series pumps.

The self cleaning wear plate is expected to be used by various councils and water authorities for their sewage pumps and in industries in which ragging or blockages in waste water pumps causes downtime on excessive maintenance costs.

Spokesperson for Hydro Innovations, Garry Grant, said that the wear plate had exceeded all expectations during testing of its capability of clearing stringy materials that would normally block even the efficient solids handling pumps.

Garry Grant added that this gives Gorman-Rupp’s Ultra V series pump a real design edge in the sewage pump station market, being able to deliver heads up to 90 metres, flows up to 100 litres per second and also handle 75mm spherical solids as well as rags and fibres.

According to Garry Grant it is also easy to maintain the pump, with tolerance adjustable externally within 10 minutes without disturbing piping or drives and enhanced safety features make it a good choice for those looking to minimise their exposure to the risks associated with working on waste water pumps.
