Hydramet, the chlorination specialist is proud to announce that due to the popularity of the company’s chlorine training programmes, public courses have been scheduled for the remainder of 2010.

Hydramet offers a variety of training programmes in cooperation with Orica covering the Health & Safety issues surrounding the use of chlorine.

Hydramet will be running their Chlorine Safety Awareness training and Chlorine Operator training programmes in August at the Head Office in Perth and Adelaide. The same courses will be held again in October in Adelaide and in November in Perth.

Hydramet's presenters have had many years of experience handling chlorine and are able to ensure the training is directly relevant to all participants.

Delegate numbers are strictly limited to a maximum of fifteen to enhance the learning experience.

Hydramet specialises in Chlorine Safety Awareness, Chlorine Storage and Handling, Chlorine Systems Maintenance and Chlorine Emergency Response Management training.

The Chlorine Safety Awareness training programme is designed for those who work next to chlorine facilities but do not operate the chlorine process.

Key components of the Chlorine Safety Awareness training programme include:

  • History of chlorine and its wide use
  • The properties and hazards of chlorine
  • The reactions of chlorine
  • Toxicology of chlorine
  • Health effects
  • First response treatment for chlorine gas
  • Use of personal escape equipment
  • Emergency response and planning
  • Competency based assessment

The Chlorine Operator training programme is designed for plant operators who work with chlorine.

Key components of the Chlorine Operator training programme include:

  • Chlorine Safety Awareness course content
  • Storage and handling of chlorine
  • Australian Standards requirements
  • Use of PPE
  • Emergency response and planning
  • Identifying parts of a valve, drum and cylinder
  • Demonstration of connecting and disconnecting a chlorine container
  • Preparing equipment and receiving equipment for maintenance
  • Assessment by demonstration
