New plant mandates announced for Husky’s medical and packaging systems divisions

Husky Injection Molding Systems has decided to focus manufacturing facilities within its Medical and Specialty Packaging Systems business. With the integration of Schӧttli and Husky, this new focus will enable Husky to provide a more responsive approach to its customers in these segments.

Earlier in February, Husky had announced the creation of a new Medical and Specialty Packaging business unit bringing together the capabilities of Schӧttli, Husky’s speciality mould making facilities in Austria and the Czech Republic, aftermarket tooling and services, and the HYLECTRIC machines system platform.

According to Steve Lawrynuik, Vice President of Medical and Specialty Packaging Systems at Husky, the creation of this new business unit at Husky allowed the company to focus their efforts, enabling their global facilities to become experts in select applications, and providing a more complete, targeted solution for customers. Additionally, being able to take advantage of capacity sharing between facilities means more flexible manufacturing options, ensuring customers get their parts to market faster.

To ensure Husky remains their customers’ first choice for high-precision medical and speciality closure moulds, the company will leverage the expertise and capability of each of its manufacturing facilities, bringing a dedicated focus to each location. Each facility will be targeting specific applications, and providing customers the opportunity to work with a single supplier to optimise system level performance.

Within the new division, existing Schӧttli sites will be focused on medical moulds and systems, select packaging moulds and systems, and some speciality closures. Husky’s sites in Austria and the Czech Republic will be focused on speciality closures. Each site will continue to place a strong emphasis on Aftermarket Services and Tooling to ensure customers are supported throughout the entire lifecycle of a product, maintaining the high-quality communication and responsiveness expected by Husky customers.
