IT security for SMEs

HONEYWELL has announced it will work with Australian company Tier-3 to provide in-house security management and intrusion detection for the small to medium enterprise (SME) market.

The Honeywell and Tier-3 relationship combines the expertise of Honeywell as a supplier of advanced security and building management systems with Tier-3's artificially intelligent security software, known as Tier-3 Huntsman, to offer SMEs and other customers a pro-active solution to monitor network intrusion and recognise attacks.

"The agreement between Honeywell and Tier-3 means we are now able to offer a viable network security solution to SMEs," explains John Rajchert, general manager of Honeywell Advanced Solutions.

"We have chosen to work with Tier-3 and the Tier-3 Huntsman solution for its ability to integrate with physical security systems as well as network products.

“The result is that the SME market now has an affordable solution that meets the needs of businesses 24 hours, seven days a week."

Rajchert emphasised that with nearly 70 per cent of the Australian economy comprising of business in the SME sector, it was important to ensure that the needs of such organisations were met.

Research indicates that SME business operators lack the time, finance and in-house expertise to deal effectively with all of the security issues facing modern business.

Tier-3 directors, Peter Woollacott and Mike Cullen, believe their company is the first business globally to have successfully developed an artificially intelligent engine that integrates security management, intrusion detection and attack prevention in a single platform.

Tier-3 Huntsman offers organisations protection for assets from attacks and viruses. When combined with traditional security network monitoring such as that offered by Honeywell, SMEs are able to protect their corporate data without the need for in-house personnel. Honeywell 02 9353 7807.
