Honeywell launches PMD technology

HONEYWELL has introduced its new process, machinery and drives (PMD) technology to the North American market at the EXFOR Exhibition in Montreal, Canada.

PMD unifies the control of the process, machinery and drives into a single system. Controls are implemented using the Honeywell field controller, which also connects various field networks as an integral part of an automation system.

The user interface for PMD uses Honeywell's HMIWeb technology. Based entirely on Web technologies, the HMIWeb architecture uses HTML as the native display format, allowing the most open and direct integration of process, application and business information available.

HMIWeb supports access to process graphic displays from a secure process control environment. In addition HMIWeb gives casual users direct access from Microsoft Internet Explorer without requiring functionality-reducing exports or "fat" plug-ins.
