Leading four-stoke power equipment manufacturer, Honda, has achieved an impressive milestone, with the production of its 400,000th lawnmower from its Melbourne manufacturing facility.
A Buffalo Classic was the lucky 400,000th lawnmower to leave the assembly line since the operation began 18 years ago.
According to Honda Power Equipment, the success of Honda's lawnmower range is due to several factors.
Honda has an outstanding reputation for developing and producing technologically advanced power equipment, and has established itself as a premium manufacturer of garden-care equipment.
Honda Power Equipment’s advanced four-stroke technology offers lower noise and exhaust emissions, while maintaining strong power and torque characteristics. A further advantage of Honda's four-stroke power equipment is reduced fuel consumption.
Having a reliable and well trusted product has also seen Honda's export sales soar in recent times.
The Australian built Buffalo range is not only performing well in Australia, but is being exported to all corners of the globe.
Honda currently exports the Buffalo range to South Africa, New Zealand, India, Taiwan, the Middle East and the Pacific Region. The success goes to show that it is possible for Australia to produce top quality products and compete on the global stage.
According to Honda Power Equipment, there were similarities between Australia's tough and demanding environmental conditions and those of the export markets, making the Buffalo a sales winner.
Many of Honda Power Equipment’s export markets have tough, dry grasses, meaning they require the quality and the proven ruggedness that the Honda Buffalo range offers.
Production Manager, Doug Brown, has worked at the manufacturing facility since operations began in 1988, and has seen the company achieve a number of milestones. Honda recently expanded the Campbellfield site to more than double its previous size, with Brown managing the production of the complete Buffalo lawnmower range, as well as providing full warehousing and logistic services for the brushcutter range.
According to Brown, much of Honda Power Equipment’s continued success is due to its products' suitability for demanding commercial applications, however the range is equally at home in the suburban backyard.
