Leading four-stroke power equipment manufacturer, Honda, has added to its popular EU generator range with the release of the 6.5 kVA, inverter-equipped EU65is.
The EU65is uses Honda's advanced four-stroke GX390 11.4 hp (8.4 kW) engine for a maximum power output of 6,500 watts AC, and rated output of 5,500 watts, making it ideal for a wide variety of both domestic and commercial applications.
Featuring Honda's sine-wave inverter technology for smooth, high quality power flow, the EU65is can safely provide power for frequency and voltage fluctuation-sensitive equipment such as laptop computers, medical or communications equipment.
According to Honda Power Equipment, recent power shortfalls across the country, including lengthy outages in Melbourne in January during bushfires, is evidence that mains power supply cannot be 100 per cent guaranteed.
Honda Power Equipment quotes a recent statistic wherein around 200,000 homes across Victoria were left without electricity when bushfires burnt an important power supply line between Victoria and New South Wales in January.
Honda Power Equipment also adds that small business was also affected and lost revenue, and in the case of restaurants, cafes and the like, produce was spoilt due to lack of refrigeration.
Honda Power Equipment opines that such situations could have been avoided or at the very least, losses minimised by using a reliable generator such as the EU65is.
Unlike many noisy generators, the EU65is uses separate triple chamber construction for low noise operation of only 60 dB, making it unobtrusive whatever the location. The EU65is generator is also fuel-efficient offering up to 12.3 hours of continuous operation from a single tank of fuel.
The EU65is' low fuel consumption is aided in part to Honda's load-sensitive ECO-Throttle function, which automatically allows the generator to adjust the engine's RPM to generate exactly the amount of power required by the appliance.
For simple operation and diagnostics, the EU65is features Honda's 'i-Monitor' liquid crystal display, which provides operators with information about the generator's performance. Hours of operation, output, engine speed and battery voltage are all displayed on the i-Monitor along with an engine warning light.
To aid servicing, the i-Monitor also features a self-diagnostic function alerting the operator when maintenance is due and therefore increasing engine life. As a safeguard, the engine will automatically shut down when the oil level is low, minimising any potential damage.
The easy-starting EU65is features electric start with recoil backup and is equipped with a one push H-shaped handle and large diameter wheels for easy storage and transport.
