Three North Wales businesses are linking up to a programme aimed at providing small and medium-sized companies with free technical support to help them exploit innovation in design and manufacturing processes.

Air Products, Acrefair, near Wrexham, Henrob, Deeside, and Bangor-based business innovation specialists BIC Innovation are among six Wales-based partner organisations supporting the Joining Forces Wales technology transfer programme.

The three-year programme is backed by the Welsh Development Agency and run by TWI in Port Talbot.

Programme manager Martin Bourton said: "Since its launch in April 2004, the programme has interacted with over 300 small firms in the Objective One regions of Wales.

"Having a diverse range of partner organisations enhances the effectiveness of the programme by broadening the scope of available resources and improving local delivery of technical support.”

Joining Forces Wales provides free technical support using a three-stage process which covers product and process review, feasibility study and near-market research and development prototyping support.
