Urschel has opened a new office in Madrid, Spain, the 11th international branch to open in Europe.
Urschel has also announced the construction of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Chesterton, Indiana, U.S.A.
Urschel España S.L. will be headed by Mr Juan Lucas Clemente, who offers extensive knowledge of the food processing industry. Strategically located in Madrid, Urschel España strengthens the Urschel global network of sales and service.
Tim O'Brien, Vice President of Sales, Urschel Laboratories, Inc. commented that the Urschel team looked forward to assisting food processors throughout Spain with all their cutting needs. The new office contains a test cutting facility with a full range of Urschel slicers and dicers, where customers are welcome to test cut products and learn more about Urschel equipment.
Urschel also held a ground-breaking ceremony for the new manufacturing facility in Indiana. Bob Urschel, CEO/President of Urschel Laboratories, Inc. said that the new project demonstrated the organisation’s commitment to Urschel customers around the globe.
According to Bill Baker, Director of Urschel Real Estate, the $80+ million construction project will take approximately 18 months to complete. The Urschel facility will encompass 71 acres with an additional 160 acres also purchased to support future growth.
Operating from its current location in Valparaiso, Indiana since 1958, Urschel has expanded the existing facility over 28 times to support the tremendous growth over the years.
Rick Urschel, Vice President of Operations added that remaining in this area with the current Urschel team was a major factor in the site selection process.
The 300+ in-plant employees also participated in the ground-breaking ceremony.
