HAWKER de Havilland, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boeing, has acquired a commercial licence for the Intelligent Risk Exchange (IREX) system from Hearne Scientific Software .
IREX is a web based risk management system for organisations working on large scale projects spread across multiple sites with multiple work groups.
The intelligence built into the system uses the lessons learnt from previous projects to help project managers to identify, assess, and monitor potential risks associated with their projects. IREX links the entire project management process from design and development to construction and delivery.
The IREX system was developed within CSIRO as a result of four years joint research and development of a dedicated team of researchers from CSIRO, University of New South Wales, University of Wollongong, and Boeing-Hawker de Havilland, who collaborated through the co-operative research centre for intelligent manufacturing systems and technologies.
Adrian Rispler, Engineering Operations Manager of Hawker de Havilland, says that Hawker de Havilland will now use IREX to manage risks in a variety of complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects such as the manufacture of aircraft components for the new-generation Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
