Boeing Australia have utilised ProModel to gain insights into their production process and model future improvements. ProModel simulation suite, available from Hearne Scientific Software , is a discrete-event simulation software, used for evaluating, planning or designing manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and other operational and strategic situations.
Recently, Boeing Australia underwent training in simulation essentials using ProModel. The training provided familiarisation and competency in the art of simulation modelling. Boeing Australia are now working to model their existing and future production processes. Once completed, the simulation model will provide a better understanding of the system, especially with regard to space allocation on the production floor.
The model also provides a platform for performing 'what-if' experiments using simulation that predicts the detailed operation without requiring any capital expenditure. Multi-million dollar capital investments can therefore be made based on detailed and rigorous models that provide measurable results. This capability allows Boeing Australia to understand the system and make modifications in order to meet their production schedule as well as take on other improvement projects.
According to Boeing Australia, they now model and analyse their manufacturing and assembly procedures using ProModel simulation suite. With recent customised in-house training from Hearne Scientific Software, they can now use ProModel software efficiently. This means Boeing Australia can now produce sophisticated models of proposed production changes and find the optimal solution for lowering costs while improving efficiency and safety.
