HANNA Instruments Water Analysis Division has released C99 chemical oxygen demand (COD) analyser. It is a multi-parameter ion-specific meter suitable for wastewater or environmental testing.

It allows for a COD measurement based on the closed reflux colorimetric method over three different ranges, 0mg/L-150mg/L, 0mg/L-1500mg/L and 0mg/L-15000mg/L. This method is based on the requirements of the two main official sources for chemical analysis in water and wastewater. These are Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater (20th Ed.) method 5220D and EPA Methods and Guidance for Analysis of Water (version 2.0) USEPA method 310.4.

The C99 COD analyser, HI93754 series of pre-dosed reagents, C9800 test tube heater, HI740216 test tube cooling rack and HI740217 safety shield have all been designed for accurate and safe measurement. Each item can be ordered separately.

Packs of 25 cuvets of pre-dosed reagents are available in low, medium and high ranges. Cuvets are a standard 16mm diameter.

The C9800 test tube reactor accepts up to 25 standard 16mm diameter cuvets for each reaction cycle. An accurate temperature control system ensures the digestion develops at 150ºC ±2ºC. The C9800 features user selectable temperature, timing mode (timed or infinity) and acoustic alarm.

In addition to COD measurement, the C99 is programmed to test up to 39 other parameters, without the need for complicated programming or installation of filters.
