Hanna Instruments Laboratory Division has released the HI 99163 instrument for the pH analysis of meat products. The FC 232D electrode incorporates many essential features to perform reliably without damaging the sample.

The probe has a built-in temperature sensor that provides automatic temperature compensation, an open junction to avoid a clogged reference and its external body material isn't toxic. The probe body has an external thread to securely screw on the FC 099 stainless steel penetration blade, included in the kit. The replaceable penetration blade allows the user to measure not only the surface, but also the internal pH of the meat. This pH meter is simple to use with only two buttons. All necessary information is clearly displayed on the LCD. Besides displaying pH and temperature, the LCD of the HI 99163 also indicates the reading stability, as well as the remaining battery charge. Calibration is automatic at one or two points, selectable between two memorised buffer sets. Battery life is more than 1500 hours and the instrument automatically turns off after eight minutes of inactivity.

The HI 99163 is supplied complete with an FC 232D pH electrode, an FC 099 stainless steel blade, pH 4 and pH 7 buffer sachets, two 20mL sachets of HI 700630 cleaning solution, batteries, a rugged carrying case and instructions.
